Taj Mahal the most popular white marble mausoleum, a symbol of true love and an inspiration for many has been a charm of India. The brilliant architecture of Taj Mahal is definitely a wonderful masterpiece of several skilled artisans. Located at a height of 900 ft (approx 275 m) from the main gateway, the sheer aura of Taj leave the travelers in awe. From the main entrance you see the red sandstone mosque on the one side and the amazing white marble mausoleum standing tall at the centre along with the four minaretes at the each side. The entire structure of Taj is located on a square platfrom made of red sand stone that has a height of 200ft. The four minrates have a height of 138 ft and are crowned with eight windowed cupolas giving the structure an awesome look that sweeps the visitors from thier feets.

On the square platform there are Iwan (arched shaped doorway). These Iwan are decorated with wonderful calligraphy with a dome and a finial at the top. Inside the main chamber of the Taj two false sarcophagi of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan are there just above the actual graves that are located just beneath them. Not only the Iwans but also the doorways inside the Taj are adorned with beautiful calligraphy. The semi octagonal arched alcoves of equal size at the tomb's side are simple worth watching. Each section in the facade is well demarked on both sides by attached pilasters which rising from the plinth level of the tomb rise above the frieze and are crowned by beautiful pinnacles with lotus buds and finials. The pinnacles ornament the superstructure and help along with the other features to break the skyline gracefully. After entering inside the Taj Mahal one can see the two tombs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaj Mahal.
